Just a quick update on what's happening at our club

As I am sure you are aware the RFU have postponed rugby until Jan 2021 and we have to follow the guidelines set out for all rugby clubs

However Adam and the coaches across the mens and Ladies team have been training Every Tuesday and Thursday nights

New members have joined ( in greater numbers than i can remember) with a limited amount of contact allowed training isn't what they want it to be but that's what we have to do.

Hopefully we can get some touch rugby on a Saturday and with the international matches being shown live at the club we should be able to get a bit of a normal Rugby Saturday feel back to the club during October and November

The mini and Junior sides train every Sunday along with the Academy ( a big squad this year ) and the Wolves who take center stage on Sundays on pitch one.

Ian and his team are now in full flow with the very popular Friday night club in full swing Even JC is getting used to be waited at the table for his pint.

Club improvements continue, a major overhaul of the changing rooms, a new floor for the main hall going in early October.

The bonfire area is being dug up and returned to a training area under lights once again This decision has been taken as its not possible to have a fireworks and bonfire display this year and there is a growing consensus that bonfire will be banned in the coming years it doesn't mean we don't have a fire work display in years to come however maybe a summers evening one instead who knows?

The drains for sewage have been cleaned and check for obstructions breakages and if you have to have a cracked pipe the best you can hope for is its not our responsibility/ cost and in our case that is exactly what we found so come on Thames water fix it. The rain water drains have also been cleared of roots etc and a new soak away has been put in place.

We are following all the rules on Covid for drinks at the club and are in the process of buying a Marquee and patio heaters to increase the outdoor / indoor space for drink's and food.

Financially we have a plan on what we need to take to cover our outgoings for the next 6 months and assuming sponsors , players , vice presidents sign up once again we will still be around in 6 months time.A big thank you to those who have already signed up.

AT continues to reduce our outgoings and a new insurance policy has saved us a lot of money for the next 3 years.

A big thank you to all who have worked on the working parties at the club from the Blanketmen, to Nobby and Andrew Clarke, Jc, Charlie and to all those who turned up for the Nat West workforce day.

A big thank to Matt Collins for the new scoreboard and the 2 new boards in the jubilee bar if anyone knows of a sign writer that would be great.

If you have been at the club recently why not pop in for one of Ian's specialty gins or some damn fine Ale

Stay Safe
