It’s with great sadness that the family would like the Rugby Club friends to know of the sad passing of Roger Townsend.
Roger played front row with Olly Musty and Roy Holt back in the early days.
Roger always held the club close to his heart and was a VP at the club for literally decades.
Roger kept in touch with the club through the club program and eagerly awaited its arrival after his grandchildren Abi Clinkard and Ashley played all the way through the junior ranks.
Abi played for The Cherubs and Angels and made it to County .
Ashley Clinkard still plays for the club.
Both Chris and Kate Clinkard coached and supported the minis and juniors setup for many years.
Roger always enjoyed Wixies Chairman’s lunch and the annual fireworks display.
Roger was proud to be associated with the club and kept in touch with many ex-players all through his life.
Seeing both his grandchildren play for Witney was a very satisfying for Roger and many a family Sunday lunch was interrupted with Rogers rendition of Mrs McGinty’s Ball.
Roger Wright Townsend passed away tonight at 6:15pm
