Witney first home game saw them facing unknown opposition in the face of Chesham.
Last season these sides were two leagues apart and on paper at least Witney should be favourites.
The expectant large crowd were rocked after 7 minutes when Chesham scored a try through Reynolds however the conversion was missed 0-5 on 24 minutes Lambourne scored a try to level the scores Toner wasn’t able to add the extras 5-5 Witney looking edgy and not comfortable on the ball gave away a penalty with Hirst scoring 5-8. Substitutions from Witney gave new impetus and Clarke scored a Try 10-8 at Half time. The half time team talk seemed to work as Witney got into their stride with tries from Morgan converted by Toner 17-8 then Rob Coe going over 22-8 quickly followed by Webb touching down and Toner adding the extras 29-8 Witney looking comfortable took their eye off the ball as Pettifer nipped in to score for Chesham 29-13 But it was Witney who were going to have the last say as Morgan went over and Toner converted 36-13 a bonus points Win for Witney keeps them second in the table.
