Witney faced in form Marlow who were confident of an upset. A strong wind blowing up the pitch should have given Marlow the first half advantage. The wind played a big part as the Witney kick off went straight out. Reset scrum and Witney drove forwards and won a penalty on Marlow 22 Tom Puddle scored the 3 points. The match was quite even until the 25th Minute when Rhys Morgan broke free and ran down the line to score. The strong wind held up the ball and the conversion was missed. 8-0 to Witney. Marlow with the wind at their backs pushed Witney and on the 33rd minute scored a penalty through Freddie laws 8-3 . Marlow who hadn’t really used the wind and knowing they really needed to be in front before halftime pushed on and scored a try through Stuart Silvester converted by Laws 8-10.
Witney not looking at the best and not getting the majority of decisions by the referee were pinned back by Marlow But scored a try as Arron Lambourne jinked his was through and scored under the posts Puddle converted.15-10 Marlow hit back with a penalty on the 65th Minute as laws scored 15-13. Witney now using the wind to better effect and a big cheered went out as Witney won an offside decision after numerous appeals went unpunished or so it seemed. This gave the home side a platform for Callum Godfrey to score a try on the 74th minute converted by Puddle 22-13 . Marlow having pushed Witney all afternoon needed to score twice had run out of time and left Hailey road without a point. On another day they would and maybe should have take all the points. But credit to the home side who used the replacements and wind well and ended looking fitter took 4 points.
NO game next weekend so the lads can rest up before taking on Reading away as they go looking for the 16th Straight win
