The 2nds produced a determined display to secure a bonus point with against a very useful Windsor side. Trys from Carl Strutt, Carl Campbell, Gareth Campbell and Matt Clarke. Ollie Toner with a 100% kicking record.
Windsor were fastest out of the blocks and put Witney under the pump for the first 20 minutes but resolute defence by the home side meant that there was no way through. Our first visit to the away sides 22 resulted in try for the not so retired Carl Strutt as he bumped off his opposite number to dive over for the first score. Shortly after half time both the Campbell lads bundles their way over for converted trys and the game looked like it was all over for Windsor. They showed their never say die attitude as they scored two quick trys. One was well worked, and one was given to them following a shocking kit chase by the home side. However, credit to the Witney boys, years gone by this could have meant a collapse and losing the game but not this season. The lads dug in deep and scored the bonus point try through Matt Clarke following some dominant scrums by the pack!
Special mentions for the young lads Jasper Nixey & Finn Ayris both performing well. Elliott Willoughby a Friday night call up for the sick Wayne showed what he was capable of with a man of the match display! Let’s look forward to travelling to Aylesbury next weekend!
