On Sunday 20th Oct Witney faced Dudley at home in midlands championship 2. After losing their first two games against two of the top teams in the league the Angels knew this would be a tough match against Dudley who were sitting second in the league.
The game started and although WItney had lots of possession they struggled to find some good form. Then they found themselves on the receiving end of some tough attack from a strong Dudley side. But some early defensive pressure lead to a charge down try by Emma Pallister. After this the game continued with back and forth scoring and even with two tries from Captain Becks Lidell WItney were finding it hard to get ahead of the scoreline. This left Witney 22-21 down with 5 minutes to go and the ladies had to dig deep to ensure that the game did not end as their third loss. But the second half saw the Angels find some form in attack and persistence and constant pressure finally paid off with Ellie Lewis crossing the line for the win. Player of the Match Saide Mansell (sponsored by Lambe Contractors) for her 100% success rate for conversions and for her several try saving tackles. Forward of the match went to Sarah Poole for her strong scrummaging and support of the pack.
