Beaconsfield RFC

6 - 19

(HT 0-0)

Witney RFC

The performances have been steadily improving, and so as luck would have it, it all clicked in to gear against Beaconsfield on Saturday.

A try after 8 minutes by Jake Edwards from a rolling maul set us on our way, only to be pegged back by a well struck penalty from the opposition scrum half. We dominated the half and but for two potential tries being held up over the line, the score could have been a lot more as we reached half time, going in 3-5.

The second half saw us continue to play with great endevour and a well read inteception from Tom Puddle on 48 minutes, gave us our second try. 19 year old Ollie Brian adding the extra's to make it 3-12. The next action saw us held up over the line again, followed by a missed penalty for us and then another well struck penalty from the Beaconsfield 9. 6-12.

Witney were still in command and this saw the lads rewarded with a line out 10 metres out. After the initial surge was holted, the forwards kept plugging away for several phases against a tiring defence, and young tight-head Ben Gordon was the man to finally buddle over. Tom Puddle coverting to make the final score 6-19.
